Become The Next Featured Artist
The Black Arts District believes in creating spaces for Black creatives to thrive! We see the beauty and world class art in West Baltimore and we are seeking help to tell that story. We are offering featured space on our website and promotion to our broader network for visual artists at all levels — hobbyists, amateurs, beginners, professionals, mid career, or emerging. Artist will be asked to submit a body of work from 5-15 pieces. Your work must somehow reflect West Baltimore/the Black Arts District and your interpretation of Black excellence.
- APPLICATIONS ARE ACCEPTED ON A ROLLING BASIS -
Work Selection:
Apply with a body of work of 5-15 pieces. Choose your best work, don't feel like you need to have 15 pieces , if you have a solid 5 pieces then that is better than a mixed quality of 15. Your work must somehow reflect West Baltimore/the Black Arts District and your interpretation of Black excellence or Black resilience. Please don’t be overwhelmed. We want to help you gain experience, show your art, and be a part of the art community, both locally and online. Thus, if you have any questions or concerns contact us.
Entry Guidelines:
Each artist feature will consist of 5-15 works as well as prices, and an artist statement about the works provided. We will also create a profile on our featured artist. So if selected an artist questionnaire will be provided for you to complete along with a picture and short bio for display.
Black Arts District provides:
6- Month Feature Period:
During the 6-month period the Black Arts District works to sell and promote YOUR work to our network.
Events and Activations:
As a featured artist, the Black Arts District will be curating 1-3 programs that you will be asked to attend, meet the public and feature and sell your work.
Archiving:
After each 6-month feature the Black Arts District reserves the right to archive your profile and works on our website.
Copyright:
Artists will always retain copyright of their works. We will use your work in promotional materials to advertise for shows you're involved in, but only with your permission. The Black Arts District will never print, distribute, or sell your work without your consent. We also don't utilize clauses to require you to not show your work again for a certain amount of time or any other clauses prohibiting you from prospering from your creative content.
Notification of Acceptance:
Artists will be notified 10-14 days after the deadline.
